CAFOD LENT HUNGER LUNCHES

On each Friday of Lent, Homemade Vegetable Soup, Rolls, Cheese and drink were served at the St Joseph's Pastoral Centre attached to St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Bradley Stoke, South Gloucestershire. The soup was provided by Fr Eugene, who has been cooking soup for Hunger Lunches for many years, from donations of vegetables from parishioners. These lunches are quite well attended and have become quite the social occasion. Even the teachers from the school, come in for lunch as part ' of their Lenten Penance' as quoted by Mrs Marsh, head teacher! The proceeds from the lunches are all given to CAFOD for their water project, especially important this year as every £1 donated to Cafod will be match funded by the Government until the 17th May 2012. Which means the £421.70 raised will give CAFOD £843.40. A huge thank you to those who helped with and attended the lunches.
